Preston Man Goes Bananas After Catching Dreaded Monkeypox

Another suspected case of Monkeypox has been reported in Preston according to recent Government statistics.

Data shows suspected cases of the infection have been reported in Preston, Fylde, Pendle and Wyre recently.

Doctors and medical professionals are now legally obligated to report any suspected cases.

Testing Laboratories do not need to disclose information on the location of the suspected infection, however, they are required to report confirmed cases.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) have advised men who are at risk of catching the infection to reduce their number of sexual partners for the moment.

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said 98 per cent of Monkeypox cases that are detected since the outbreak in May have been among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men.

He said: “That means making safe choices for yourself and others, for men who have sex with men.”

“This includes, for the moment, reducing your number of sexual partners.”

Since the week ending July 31, four cases have been confirmed in Lancashire. One in Fylde, one in Pendle, one in Preston and one in Wyre.

The most recent statistics for across England as of 1 August are 2,672 confirmed cases and 87 highly probable. Across the UK, there are 2,759 cases in total.
