A new Lidl supermarket is coming to Southport’s coastal road in the coming months.
Plans have been seen and approved by Sefton Council for a new Lidl on Marine Drive in Crossens on land currently not-in-use.
The new Lidl will also have a car park and servicing areas.
The 1.2 hectare site has been designed for Lidl since 2017 with plans submitted to Sefton Council in 2021. Plans were finally approved on 5th August 2022.
The store looks set to open from 7am until 10pm and include a short footpath on Ferryside Lane to the junction of Crossens Way. New street lighting will also be implemented for pedestrians.
Architects working on the design of the site, One Design Ltd, said: “Lidl regards the application site as ideally suited to meet its requirement for a new discount store to better serve the local community. Given Lidl’s commitment to investing in Southport, the development will increase the local communities’ retail offering.”
