Wagamamas in Preston has closed eight months after opening.
The first branch in Lancashire was announced earlier this year and opened in Preston on March 21st. The branch opened on the Deepdale Retail Park and now has a “To Let” sign outside.
Local Prestonians began to notice the vacant unit on Monday (21st November). The building has had it’s signage stripped with a letting agent advertising the buildings availability.
No explanation has been given for the sudden departure of Wagamamas from Preston or why they have ceased trading, and no confirmation has been given that they will be opening elsewhere in the city.
Delivery platforms such as Just Eat and Deliveroo have now removed the Preston branch from their services and the Google page now says “Permanently Closed”.
Speaking earlier this year, ahead of their opening in Preston, regional marketing manager, Alice Eagle said: “We are so excited to be opening our second Wagamama kitchen in the north of England, after seeing so much success in Leeds.”
“Wagamama has been a pillar in the communities around central and greater Manchester for over 25 years now and we felt it was time to provide the people of Preston with the option to have our bowls delivered direct to their doors.
“Our Wagamama kitchen in Preston will also be the first to offer a click and collect option to those who may be slightly outside of the Deliveroo radius and of course have our Middlebrook Bolton location nearby if folks are wanting the option to dine in with us instead.”
Its nearest branches are now at Middlebrook Retail Park in Horwich, near Bolton.
