Remembering Darren Orme: A Community Mourns

The Wigan community is grieving this week following the sad news that a body believed to be missing local man Darren Orme has been found.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a body was located in the Stadium Way area of Wigan, bringing an end to the search that has captured the hearts of so many across the borough.

While formal identification is still to take place, Darren’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this incredibly difficult time.

A Search That United a Town

Darren’s disappearance sparked an outpouring of support and concern from people across Wigan and beyond. From posters and social media shares to organised search efforts and kind messages, the response was a clear reflection of just how much Darren meant to the community.

The Wigan Athletic family, in particular, played a huge role in raising awareness. Darren was a well-known and much-loved fan, and the football community rallied to help in any way they could.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Wigan Police issued a public thank you:

“Thank you to everyone who has shared our appeals over the last few weeks.”

It’s a reminder of how strong our community is in times of need, and how coming together can provide strength — even in the most difficult moments.

No Suspicious Circumstances

Police have confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery, and enquiries are ongoing.

The focus now turns to supporting Darren’s loved ones and allowing space for the community to mourn, reflect, and remember a man who touched so many lives.

A Time to Reflect

To everyone who shared, searched, and supported the family during this time — thank you. Though this isn’t the ending we had hoped for, the unity and compassion shown by the people of Wigan will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Darren 💙
