Iconic Nightclub To Be Demolished For 11-Storey Flats In Preston City Centre

Written by John Nicoll

Preston City Council have given the green light to a new proposed block of flats in the city centre.

The proposed development will be located between Tithebarn Street, Bishopgate and Old Vicarage on the site of the old The Piper nightclub. An application has been submitted to the council for an 11-storey mixed-use building with up to 124 apartments.

There will also be ground floor leisure/retail use with parking. The application proposes the demolition of the existing building.

The indicative plans show a main reception at the front of the building with access from Tithebarn Street.

There will also be a single retail unit, a gym, a “work from home” space, cinema room, bin store and a cycle store on the ground floor.

No affordable housing is proposed due to financial viability reasons.
