Interesting plans for a complex leisure facility featuring a watersports lake and a dry ski slope near Preston Docks look set to be approved in the coming weeks.
The proposed facility will be housed on Phoenix Park, an Ofsted approved specialist therapeutic care and education provider for looking after children aged 11-18.
The wider Phoenix Park site is already used for education and training of children and young people together with public access to motocross and go-kart circuits.
The latest application comprises the excavation of a water sports lake, a 95-metre-long “green run” dry ski slope, alongside up to 13 lodges for occupation by young people in care.
The proposed leisure lake is located at the western end of the site and will be used for canoeing, stand up paddle boarding as well as other forms of leisure water craft.
Both the lake and ski slope will provide opportunities for training and education for children staying, visiting or studying at Pioneer Tec.
Councillors will meet today (10 August) to consider the proposals.
