A Southport man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of rape at Liverpool Crown Court.
Adam Francis, 32, of Holmdale Avenue, denied the charges but was convicted following a trial and sentenced on Friday, 7th March 2025. In addition to his prison term, Francis has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and has been issued with a lifetime restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.

The Incident and Investigation
The court heard that Francis raped a woman in Ainsdale during the early hours of Sunday, 5th May 2024. After an extensive investigation, detectives arrested and charged him with the offence.
Detective Constable Chris Kingston praised the victim for her bravery in coming forward, despite having to endure a trial:
“Francis, by pleading not guilty, forced the victim to relive this harrowing event. However, thanks to her courage and the strength of the evidence against him, he is now off our streets and facing justice.”
He reaffirmed Merseyside Police’s commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, stating:
“Today’s result shows that violence against women and girls will simply not be tolerated, and we will work tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.”
